I must say that I don’t really get the traditional mindset of work. The believe that a professional can do only a few kind of things, the feeling that there is not enough room for trying new stuff, no way to evolve and keep doing almost the same again and again until your retirement. Boring, unrealistic and illogical.
That is not my idea of work. I don’t want that for me. I like to try new things, work in different projects, learn from different people or something new from scratch.
I can research, write, make a compelling presentation, think about the best strategy for a new brand or a new communication campaign, make a brand identity, refresh a current one that is old-fashioned, edit some videos, design your website, make some cool stories for your social media, catch up with a client, create a good work environment, plant 50 trees in a mountain-skirt, teach you how to row or prepare a city tour with cool historic references. I can do all of that.
But also, I can do a bunch of other things if I have the time and tools for learning them. Because I already have the enthusiasm and the curiosity. So please, don’t get blind with the idea that I’m only an “art director, brand consultant” or whatever the name came across in the header of my CV. Because, I am able to become competent in heaps of other things. And I think that’s a great sign!
